A suspected electrical fault sparked a fire in the basement of the well-loved HS Diner today, sending emergency crews rushing to the scene in Eastbourne

Firefighters and Engineers Respond Fast

The blaze was quickly contained thanks to the swift action of local firefighters and engineers from UK Power Networks. Thankfully, all staff and customers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

“A big thank you to the incredible fire crew and UK Power Networks who came out to us today after a suspected electrical fault caused a small fire in our basement,” the HS Diner team posted online.

Diner Assesses Damage and Plans Reopening

The restaurant is now conducting thorough safety checks and damage assessments before reopening its doors. HS Diner promised to update customers as soon as they have a reopening date.

Staff also expressed gratitude to the local community for their support, saying messages and visits from worried customers “mean the world.”
