Marvyn Thomas jailed for savage attacks

Marvyn Thomas, 38, of Belmont Street, Old Trafford, has been slammed with a 13-and-a-half-year prison sentence at Manchester Crown Court. The verdict came after a two-week trial that exposed his violent reign of terror against his victim.

Relentless abuse and assaults exposed

Thomas was found guilty on multiple charges, including three counts of Actual Bodily Harm (ABH), two counts of non-fatal strangulation, two counts of criminal damage, sexual assault, and rape. The court heard chilling details of his controlling and abusive behaviour spanning from summer 2023 to March 2024.

On one night after a heated argument, Thomas followed his victim into their bedroom, throttled them against the wall, and threatened to kill them. The victim struggled for breath as Thomas gripped their throat twice before forcing them into a sexual assault.

Mother’s Day attack and ongoing terror

In October 2023, the victim suffered serious injuries after a brutal attack that needed hospital treatment. The violence peaked again on Mother’s Day 2024 when Thomas punched the victim, knocking them unconscious and causing severe facial bruising.

Even after a break in contact, Thomas stalked the victim’s area. In one horrifying episode, the victim and their family had to barricade themselves inside a business while staff stopped Thomas from breaking in.

Thomas’s sentence sends a strong message that such cruelty will not be tolerated.
