A violent thug who savagely assaulted a woman in Trowbridge has been locked up for two years.
Jason Povey’s Savage Attack
Jason Povey, 36, homeless, pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm after attacking a woman he knew. The terrifying ordeal began on February 13 when Povey showed up uninvited at the woman’s home in Trowbridge.
When she didn’t answer the door, Povey kicked down the back garden fence. Concerned he was drunk, the woman tried to drive him to a relative’s place. But while behind the wheel, Povey launched a brutal attack, punching her multiple times in the face.
Relentless Violence
After she got out of the car, Povey kept punching her. The woman courageously tried to escape, but Povey dragged her down and tried to stamp on her head. Thankfully, she dodged the blow. Still, Povey punched her repeatedly in face and body, inflicting multiple painful injuries.
Justice Served
Povey appeared at Swindon Crown Court on March 20 and was sentenced to two years in jail. He also received a 10-year restraining order to keep him away from the victim.
“Povey is a coward who launched a violent attack, leaving the woman terrified for her life,” said local crime investigator Ben Hillier. “This level of violence is horrific and totally unacceptable. I welcome the custodial sentence and restraining order, which will hopefully help the victim move on.”
