Eric Cox, 67, a convicted paedophile currently in jail, has been slammed with an extra seven-and-a-half years behind bars. Cox was already serving 15 years for abusing a young boy from 2011. Now, more twisted offences from over 30 years ago have landed him another hefty prison term.
Exploited Trust to Abuse Vulnerable Boy
Prosecutor Robert Meikle revealed Cox took advantage of his job as a bus driver in south-east london/" title="London" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">London to groom and sexually abuse a vulnerable boy. The shocking abuse began when Cox was in his 30s and was only reported to police in 2020.
“The victim said he could not escape Cox but did not tell anyone because the abuse distorted his view of right and wrong,” the court heard.
Judge Issues Consecutive Sentence Over Lasting Harm
Judge David Miller told the court the victim suffered “severe and lasting psychological harm”. Despite the new crimes predating Cox’s current sentence, the latest punishment will run consecutively. Cox must serve at least two-thirds of the new sentence before he can be considered for release. This latest conviction exposes the vile depths of Cox’s crimes and ensures he stays behind bars for years to come.
