A savage assault in a Leeds hotel has landed Lee Chadbourne behind bars for five years and three months. The 38-year-old Doncaster man launched a vicious attack on a woman, leaving her seriously injured.
Wine Bottle Weapons and Ruthless Blows
On August 30 last year, Chadbourne grabbed a wine bottle and smashed it towards the victim’s head. He didn’t stop there. Punches rained down on her head, neck, and body before he kicked her in the head. The victim suffered a severe eye injury that needed laser treatment. Chadbourne then fled, leaving her battered and bruised to seek help.
Quick Police Work Nets Justice
- The victim alerted hotel staff, who immediately contacted British Transport Police (BTP).
- Chadbourne handed himself in but was initially released on bail.
- He then tried to intimidate the victim with threats and cash offers to drop charges.
- His behaviour led to a swift re-arrest for breaching bail conditions.
- Leeds Crown Court sentenced him to five years and three months in prison, plus a restraining order.
BTP Hails Victim’s Bravery
Police Constable Andy Jones said: “This was a cowardly and vicious attack by an extremely violent man. The victim showed incredible bravery and refused to be intimidated despite Chadbourne’s threats. She helped us bring him to justice.” “Chadbourne is a nasty and manipulative individual who deserves every day of his sentence. Violence against women will never be tolerated—we will always fight to get offenders behind bars.”
