Hell’s Angels Members Jailed for Brutal Assault on Vikings Rival

Three Hell’s Angels Motorcycle Club members, Callum Shaw, Barry Brown, and Daniel Kent, have been incarcerated for a total of 19 years due to their involvement in a brutal assault in Findon, shedding light on the ongoing rivalry with the Vikings Motorcycle Club.
The altercation, which took place on Findon Road on October 8, escalated when Hell’s Angels members exited their vehicles and launched an attack on the Vikings, reportedly as retaliation for an earlier incident where Vikings members allegedly stole Hell’s Angels’ gear at a Surrey service station.
The violent encounter, which resulted in severe injuries for a 52-year-old Vikings member from Harrow, was meticulously recorded, leading to the arrest of the assailants. The victim, who faced life-threatening injuries, has fortunately made a recovery.
Shaw, a 27-year-old with no fixed abode, faced the harshest penalty, receiving a 12-year sentence for GBH, burglary, violent disorder, and carrying a knife, with an additional five-year license extension due to the crime’s severity, as determined at Lewes Crown Court.
Brown and Kent faced the court on subsequent dates, with Brown receiving a three-year sentence for violent disorder and actual bodily harm, and Kent receiving a similar sentence, plus an additional year for a related burglary, highlighting the serious consequences of motorcycle gang violence.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Matt Watson, said: “This was a vicious attack and an incident which got out of hand very quickly.
“The significant sentences recognise the seriousness of the incident, which was in the middle of a busy street and had a profound impact on the local community. Nearby witnesses will no doubt still be affected and traumatised by what they saw.
“Shaw, Brown and Kent are dangerous individuals, and the streets are safer with them in prison.”

West Chiltington Murder-for-Hire Plot Ends in 45-Year Sentence

West Chiltington Murder-for-Hire Plot Ends in 45-Year Sentence

In a murder-for-hire case, four people have been sentenced to a total of 45 years in prison after orchestrating an attack on a man in West Chiltington. The incident, which occurred on December 21, 2019, involved a 48-year-old man being lured outside his home and stabbed in the chest.
The emergency services rushed to the scene at Harbolets Road following a distress call about the critically injured victim. Despite being left for dead, the victim managed to seek help and survive the brutal assault.
The victim was left permanently scarred The investigation unveiled a twisted plot involving Emma Giles, her father Mark Giles Snr, her brother Mark Giles Jnr, and her then-boyfriend Sam Millis. The group conspired to eliminate the victim, motivated by Mark Giles Snr’s disapproval of his daughter’s relationship with the man.
The hired assailant, now deceased, was paid £3,000 to execute the murder. Evidence from phone and vehicle data confirmed the presence of all four conspirators near the crime scene, implicating them in the scheme.
Following a four-week trial at Lewes Crown Court, the jury found the defendants guilty of conspiracy to murder. Mark Giles Snr received a ten-year sentence, Mark Giles Jnr and Sam Millis each were sentenced to 14 years, and Emma Giles was handed a seven-year term.
The case, described by HHJ Christine Laing as extraordinary due to its unclear motive and the severe impact on the victim, highlights the dangerous lengths to which individuals will go over personal grievances. The victim’s miraculous survival underscores the severity of the crime and its lasting repercussions.
In a statement submitted to the court, the victim said: “The mental impact of this has left me in such a bad way that I don’t think I will ever fully recover. I don’t sleep and when I do I have dreams about what happened. The whole incident and especially the worry to do with having to give evidence at court and relive what happened again and again has led to me having to take medication for anxiety.
“The offence committed against me has significantly impacted on my day-to-day life. I used to have an active social life in the local area but now I stay away in case I see anyone that was involved in doing this to me. I can no longer do the things I considered normal.”
The statement continued: “I just can’t understand why people arranged for this to happen to me. We used to be friends and I loved one of the people involved. All I keep thinking is all of this could have been sorted out in other ways.”
Detective Sergeant Simon Smith said: “This was an extremely complex investigation into the betrayal of a man by the woman he loved, whose family would clearly stop at nothing to end their relationship.
“The victim in this case is extremely fortunate to have escaped with his life.
“Proving an offence such as this is challenging, but thanks to the tireless work of the investigation team we were able to gather enough evidence to tie all four to the crime and secure these significant custodial sentences.
“Had the man they paid to carry out the attack been alive, I am confident he too would have faced justice for his crimes.”

Man Threatens Hospital Staff in Brighton: Caught & Sentenced

Man Threatens Hospital Staff in Brighton: Caught & Sentenced

In a harrowing event at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, Joshua Byrne, 32, has been sentenced after threatening hospital staff with a knife in the Accident and Emergency department. The incident, which caused widespread alarm, saw Byrne wielding a knife and making threats against staff and patients, including a moment where he lunged at a security guard with the weapon.
The situation escalated when Byrne forcibly took a mobile phone from a patient and made a threatening gesture towards a nurse with the knife. Thankfully, due to the swift response of the hospital’s security team and the intervention of PC Greg Devlin and PC Max Setra from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU), who used a Taser to subdue Byrne, no one was seriously injured.
The court heard how the hospital staff displayed remarkable bravery and professionalism during the ordeal, managing to keep patients and the public safe. Her Honour Judge Christine Laing KC commended the staff and the RPU officers for their actions during the sentencing at Lewes Crown Court on February 20.
Byrne, who is unemployed and resides in Ingram Crescent East, Hove, pleaded guilty to several charges, including attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and affray. He has been handed a five-year prison sentence, with an additional three-year extended licence period.
Photo – Sussex Police Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Rachel Carr said: “The actions of the hospital staff and security was incredible that night.
“It was a distressing incident for everyone in the hospital, but the staff’s professional actions ensured vulnerable patients were protected.
“Byrne’s actions were highly reckless, putting his own safety and the safety of everyone else at risk.
“He was swiftly arrested, and we are pleased that a dangerous criminal has now been sentenced.”
Chief Inspector Simon Yates, Sussex Police’s force lead for knife crime and serious violence, said: “We know that there is increased concern from the public about knife crime.
“Stories in the media and social media can increase these concerns, and can lead some individuals to arm themselves with a knife in a misguided attempt to protect themselves.
“Sadly it is becoming commonplace for police officers to encounter weapons such as hunting knives and concealed weapons which have been purchased online, with few, if any, checks to prevent them being used in crime.
“We know that knife crime can destroy the lives of those impacted, their families and loved ones, and our communities.
“Those who carry them often don’t appreciate this impact, and don’t appreciate that by carrying a knife, they are far more likely to become a victim of knife crime themselves.
“It is a priority of Sussex Police to tackle knife crime and serious violence, to educate people about knife safety, and to work with partners to reduce knife crime and fear of knife crime to keep our communities safe.”

Rye Resident Sentenced to Four Years for Violence and Drug Crimes

Rye Resident Sentenced to Four Years for Violence and Drug Crimes

In a significant crackdown on drug-related violence in Rye, a local man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison following a series of serious offenses. The sentencing marks a pivotal moment in the local law enforcement’s efforts to combat drug and violence crimes within the community.
In late September 2022, law enforcement authorities executed a search warrant at a residence on Pottingfield Road, Rye, in response to growing concerns over drug-related criminal activities in the area. The search led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia, around £360 in cash, and multiple mobile phones, indicating the presence of illicit drug activities.
The investigation quickly centered around Leon Dodson, 25, who was found at the property. A thorough examination of the evidence, including messages on the seized phones, revealed Dodson’s involvement in the supply of narcotics and related criminal acts.
The case against Dodson escalated in May 2023, following reports of a stabbing incident at the Queens Head Hotel in Rye, where two men were injured. The subsequent police investigation resulted in Dodson’s arrest and charges including grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, affray, and criminal damage.
Further investigations linked Dodson to the supply of Class A and Class B drugs, leading to additional charges in October 2023. The charges were in connection with the earlier search warrant and highlighted Dodson’s role in the local drug trade, particularly concerning cocaine and cannabis supply.
Dodson’s legal battles culminated at Lewes Crown Court on 4 November, where he was initially sentenced to 58 months in prison after pleading guilty to the charges related to the violent offenses. In a subsequent hearing on 29 January, Dodson received an additional sentence for the drug-related crimes, which will run concurrently with his initial sentence, totaling 58 months’ imprisonment.
