Woman Jailed for Brutal Knife Attack in Worthing
A woman has been locked up for a vicious assault that left a man with permanent facial scars in Worthing.
Gruesome Knife Attack Near Montague Centre
The police rushed to Liverpool Road, close to the Montague Centre, at around 2am on December 10 after reports of an attack on a 43-year-old man. The victim suffered serious injuries after Learna Wood pulled out a Stanley knife and severed part of his ear, also slashing his face.
Three-and-a-Half Year Sentence for Learna Wood
Wood, 47, from Grange Road, Southwick, admitted to charges of grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a knife in public on February 7. On March 27, Lewes Crown Court sentenced her to three years and six months behind bars and fined her £228.
Police Praise Swift Justice After ‘Unprovoked and Horrendous’ Attack
“This was an unprovoked and horrendous assault which will leave the victim with permanent facial disfigurement,” said Crime Investigator Mel Edwards. “It was an unnecessary attack, but after appealing to the public, we were able to find the suspect. Wood has been brought to justice and another dangerous offender is behind bars.”
