Upon arrival, patrols discovered a man in his 20s with several stab wounds. The victim was
taken to the hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. The assailant, described as a man dressed in black with his face covered, entered the pub moments before the attack and left immediately afterward. The victim, however, has declined to assist police, leading detectives to treat the incident as targeted.
An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances, with a scene established at the pub for forensic examination. Detectives are conducting house-to-house enquiries, and CCTV opportunities in the area are being explored to gather more information.
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Dalton expressed concern over the incident, stating, “It is despicable to think anyone would enter a pub on a busy Friday night and carry out such a nasty assault. This would have been a frightening experience for everyone in the pub at the time, let alone the victim.”
He stressed the seriousness of knife crime and the commitment of law enforcement to address it. “The use of knives on our streets is extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated,” he stated.
Dalton encouraged the public to come forward with any information related to knife crime in Merseyside or specifically regarding this incident. Witnesses or anyone with relevant details can contact @MerPolCC, call 101 quoting reference 24000121000, or reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
