Liverpool Man Jailed for Sex Attacks on Teens in Newsagents

Sanad Ahmed, 28, from Asbridge Street, Liverpool, was locked up for seven years yesterday at Liverpool Crown Court. Ahmed, once employed at Richmond News on Richmond Street, was found guilty of abusing two teenage girls inside the shop on May 15, 2021.

Shocking Assault in Local Newsagents

The victims were attacked by Ahmed during the afternoon inside the newsagent. A group of teens discovered the girls soon after and quickly alerted police. Ahmed was arrested the same day but denied all charges. A jury has now convicted him of multiple sex offences, including oral rape and assault by penetration.

Long Sentence and Lifetime Restrictions

Ahmed faces a hefty seven-year prison term. On top of that, he’ll stay registered as a sex offender for life. The court also imposed a 10-year restraining order to keep him away from the victims.

Police Praise Brave Witnesses

“For years Ahmed denied these awful assaults, forcing the victims to relive the trauma in court. No one should have to endure such horrific abuse,” said Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parry. “We are grateful to the witnesses who came forward and helped secure justice.”

Parry hopes the verdict will bring closure to the victims and allow them to rebuild their lives free from fear. The police continue to urge anyone affected by sexual abuse to speak up and seek support from specially trained officers ready to help with compassion and care.
