Folkestone Assault: Man Charged After Violent Brawl

A man has been charged following a violent assault in Folkestone that left three people needing hospital treatment.

Knife and Wooden Weapon Used in Dover Road Clash

Kent Police were called to a disturbance on Dover Road near Harbour Way at around 8.10pm on Wednesday, 2 June 2021. The incident involved two groups clashing on the street.

Peter Young, 51, of Dover Road, Folkestone, was charged on Friday, 4 June with grievous bodily harm, a public order offence, possession of a kitchen knife in a public place, and carrying a piece of wood as a weapon.

Suspect Held in Custody, Others Released on Bail

Young remains in custody and is set to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court the same day.

Meanwhile, four other men aged 18, 19, 21, and 41 from Folkestone, arrested in connection with the fracas, have been released on bail as investigations continue.

Police Call for Witnesses and Footage

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the fight or has personal CCTV or dashcam footage from 8.10 to 8.15pm on 2 June in the area to come forward and assist the ongoing inquiry.
