Hampshire police worked through the night to unravel a deadly crash on the M27 near Fareham. Emergency services rushed to the westbound carriageway late Monday after a collision involving a car and a motorcycle.
Chaos as Wood Blocks Road Before Crash
Just before the smash, frantic drivers flooded 999 with warnings about large lumps of wood scattered across the unlit stretch between Junction 9 and Junction 8. Many had to swerve to avoid the debris in the darkness — sparking the horror crash moments later.
Multi-Vehicle Collision Causes Long Road Closure
At least four vehicles, including a motorcycle and a Hyundai, were caught up in the pile-up. The motorway closed for nearly eight hours while specialist officers scoured the scene, carrying out tests, scans, and measurements.
By 5.10am Tuesday, police wrapped up their investigation and handed the route back to Highways England to reopen.
