Tragic Kennington Road Crash: Cyclist Killed After Collision with Bus

Police were scrambled at 10:11pm on Monday, 2 May after a devastating crash between a cyclist and a bus at the busy junction of Kennington Road and Lambeth Road.

Cyclist Dies Despite Emergency Efforts

The victim, 62-year-old Oswald Mapp, was rushed to hospital by ambulance. Sadly, he was pronounced dead on 4 May, despite the concerted efforts of medical staff.

His family have been informed and are being supported through this tragic time.

Bus Driver Cooperating, No Arrests Made

The bus driver stayed at the scene and is assisting police with their investigation. So far, no arrests have been made as inquiries continue.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Detective Sergeant Nick Bale, Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “This is a busy road and I am sure there are witnesses who haven’t come forward yet. I urge those people to get in touch.”

“I also ask anyone driving in the area at the time to check their dash cams. If you captured the collision or anything surrounding it, please contact us immediately.”
