Cyclist Killed After Horrific Crash with Bus in Kennington
Tragedy struck Kennington Road on Monday night when a 62-year-old cyclist collided with a bus at the busy junction with Lambeth Road. Police were called to the scene at 10.11pm where they found Oswald Mapp seriously injured.
Victim Dies Despite Emergency Efforts
The cyclist was rushed to hospital by ambulance but sadly died on 4 May, days after the crash. His family have been informed and are being supported by authorities.
Bus Driver Cooperating, No Arrests Yet
The bus driver remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with police. So far, no arrests have been made as investigations continue.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Sergeant Nick Bale of the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command said: “The scene of the collision is a busy road and I am sure that there were witnesses who have not yet come forward. I urge those people to get in touch.”
“Similarly, I would ask any motorist who was in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cam and if they have footage of the collision, or the events surrounding it, to contact us without delay.”
