Eastbourne Lifeboat Races to Rescue Yacht in Distress
At 4.26pm today, Eastbourne RNLI’s lifeboat crew were scrambled for the 29th time this year. The call? A yacht had issued a ‘pan pan’ distress signal, signalling urgent but not life-threatening trouble.
Expert Crew Springs Into Action
The volunteer team quickly launched the Trent class all-weather lifeboat, Esme Anderson, and sped to the yacht’s aid. With daylight fading fast and shallow waters at the harbour entrance, the crew faced a tricky challenge.
Safe Harbour Secured
Using their expert judgement, the crew decided to tow the yacht through the locks, steering it safely into Sovereign Harbour’s shelter. Another successful rescue by Eastbourne’s brave lifeboat team.
