RNLI Warns Public to Stay Clear Amid Storm Jocelyn

The RNLI has issued a stark warning to anyone near coastal areas during Storm Jocelyn, urging extreme caution on cliffs, seafronts, and piers amid fierce wind gusts and heavy rain.

Tim Doran, RNLI National Water Safety Partner, advised visitors to keep a safe distance from the water due to dangerous conditions. He highlighted the threat of cold water shock, especially when temperatures fall below 15°C. “If you end up in the water unexpectedly, remember the ‘Float to Live’ technique,” he warned.

Other vital RNLI safety tips include staying well away from stormy seas and cliff edges, always checking weather and tide forecasts beforehand, and carrying a phone for emergencies.
