Tragedy hit Batley in the early hours of Sunday as a man died in a solo car crash. West Yorkshire Police are desperate for witnesses to come forward.

Red Vauxhall Astra Smashes Into Wall and Pole

Just after 2am on March 15, a red Vauxhall Astra hurtled along Cross Bank Road towards Carlinghow Lane before veering off and crashing into a wall and a telegraph pole near Coal Pit Mews.

The driver, a 36-year-old local man, suffered critical injuries and later died in hospital. No other vehicles were involved in the smash.

Police Plead for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

West Yorkshire’s Major Collision Enquiry Team is investigating the fatal crash and wants anyone who saw the car or the collision to step forward.

“Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Batley,” a spokesperson said. “Anyone with information, especially dashcam or CCTV footage, is urged to get in touch.”
