Tragic Death in Late-Night Crash on Purley Road
A young man has died following a serious car accident on Purley Road, just off Purley Way, in Croydon late last night.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
At 11.13pm on Wednesday, 7 May, emergency crews from the London Ambulance Service (LAS), Metropolitan Police, and London Fire Brigade raced to the scene after reports of a collision.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent an ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer to the scene. Sadly, a man died at the scene despite the best efforts of our teams.”
Police Launch Investigation as Road Remains Closed
Officers arrived minutes after the crash and confirmed the driver, a man in his 20s, was declared dead at the scene. The road stayed shut throughout the night while investigators gathered evidence.
A Met Police spokesman said: “Officers were called at 11.15pm following reports of a single vehicle collision on Purley Way, Croydon. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact police on 101 or message @MetCC on X with reference 8366/7MAY.”
