Blaze Erupts in Leysdown-on-Sea: Five Fire Engines Battle Flames
Five fire engines have rushed to the scene of a roaring fire at multiple outbuildings on Leysdown Road, Leysdown-on-Sea, Sheerness. Firefighters, decked out in breathing apparatus, are dousing the blaze with hose reel jets and powerful main jets.
Asbestos Warning Sparks Safety Concerns
There are alarming reports that the roof involved in the fire contains asbestos, which has been released into the air. Residents and workers nearby are urged to shut windows and doors immediately as a safety precaution.
No Injuries as Emergency Services Take Charge
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed: “Five fire engines remain in attendance at the scene of a fire involving multiple outbuildings… crews are making steady progress.”
No injuries have been reported so far. Police have also stepped in, closing the road to help firefighters contain the blaze.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called by Kent Fire and Rescue Service at 11.36 am to a fire at a property in Leysdown Road, Leysdown-on-Sea. Officers are currently at the scene and have closed the road to assist fire crews tackle the blaze.”
