Met Police Step Up Firearms Seizures
The Metropolitan Police are cracking down harder than ever on violent crime. Firearms seizures hit a record high, with 450 guns seized in 2020/21 – up from 366 the year before.
The trend shows no signs of slowing. In just the first quarter of this financial year, 98 firearms were confiscated, compared to 92 during the same period last year.
Detective Inspector Dean Grafton said: “Officers are working relentlessly to identify and detain violent offenders and seize dangerous weapons from the streets of London and out of our communities.”
“The Met continues to deliver on its promise to make London a hostile place for the supply and transport of firearms.”
