Midnight Mayhem: JCB Used in SPAR Burglary Raid
Thieves launched a brazen early-morning raid on the SPAR store in Retford using a JCB teleporter to smash through a side wall at around 3.30am on Tuesday, March 14.
Botched Cash Machine Heist
Nottinghamshire Police arrived just in time to disrupt the burglars’ attempt to steal the cash machine, which was left untouched inside the shop. The suspects fled in a white van, later found abandoned nearby.
Two Men Nabbed After Violent Arrest
Two men, aged 41 and 49, were arrested in the early hours of March 15 on suspicion of commercial burglary. During the arrest, the 41-year-old grabbed an officer by the neck, leading to an additional charge of assaulting an emergency worker.
“The officer suffered marks but no serious injuries,” confirmed police.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal
Detective Constable Robert Garrow said: “This was a pre-planned, targeted burglary. We’re pleased to have made arrests.”
“We understand locals may be concerned and encourage anyone with information to come forward. We take this crime seriously.”
Items left at the scene, including the embedded teleporter, are being examined as the probe continues.
