A 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with an attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl in Swindon, Wiltshire Police have confirmed.

Abdulmawal Ibrahim Adam, of Stanier Street, has been charged with attempting to kidnap a 17-year-old girl, and is due to appear before Swindon Magistrates’ %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% today (20 March).

The charge follows an incident on %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% 6, when the teenager was allegedly chased and grabbed on Fleming Way while on her way home from work. The girl managed to escape, and %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% launched an investigation shortly after the report was made.

Adam was remanded in custody following the authorisation of the charge on %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% night (19 March).

A spokesperson for %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% Police said:

"We take reports of this nature extremely seriously and have worked swiftly to identify and charge a %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%%. The victim is being supported, and we are continuing our %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%%."

Police have not released further details due to the ongoing legal proceedings, but have encouraged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has additional information to come forward.
