Brazen Maidstone Charity Shop Burglar Busted and Jailed in Record Time
A thief who raided a Maidstone charity shop has been slammed with a jail sentence just two days after the daring burglary.
Lightning-Fast Police Action Nabs Suspect
Kent Police sprang into action early on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, after the High Street shop reported a break-in. Cops rushed to the scene and scoured CCTV footage, identifying a suspect within hours.
The crook sneaked in after closing time on Tuesday, 3 February, making off with over £500 from the shop’s safe.
Arrest Made Within Hours
- Officers, working with intelligence teams and partner agencies, arrested 44-year-old Danny Crawley at a Maidstone address just three hours after the report.
- Crawley, from Godstow Road, Abbey Wood, London, was also caught breaking a restraining order by entering the banned property.
- He pleaded guilty the very next day at Medway Magistrates’ Court.
Harsh Sentence: Jail Time and Payback
Crawley was sentenced to 35 weeks behind bars and ordered to repay the £500 stolen.
Inspector Steve Kent, Maidstone Community Safety Unit, said: “Officers used their strong local knowledge to quickly identify and arrest Crawley. This crime hits not just businesses but the whole community.”
