Jealousy Sparks Brutal Daylight Shooting in Morden
A 25-year-old man was blasted multiple times in broad daylight after Daniel Gaudin and Shannon Rule travelled from Waltham Forest to Merton to carry out the chilling attack in front of stunned witnesses.
Shannon Rule Found Guilty of Attempted Murder
On Thursday, 22 December, 22-year-old Shannon Rule of Ashwood Road, Chingford, was convicted of attempted murder at Kingston Crown Court. Her accomplice, 23-year-old Daniel Gaudin from Cranleigh Close, Waltham Cross, had already pleaded guilty.
Love Triangle Turns Deadly
The court heard Rule had been in relationships with both the victim and Gaudin—who didn’t know each other initially. Jealous Gaudin sent threatening texts after learning about the other man.
Gaudin recruited Rule to lure the victim to a meeting near Gaudin’s home in Morden. The victim, unaware of any danger, agreed, thinking he would meet Rule alone to resolve matters.
Cold-Blooded Ambush Caught in Public
Rule met the victim first, then Gaudin suddenly emerged and fired multiple shots without warning. Scores of onlookers watched the shocking scene unfold.
Police rushed to Central Road at 14:03 on Tuesday, 22 June. The victim was severely injured and urgently treated by London Ambulance Service paramedics. His injuries are life-changing, requiring ongoing care.
Plotters Caught After Failed Escape
The suspects fled but mistakenly circled back near the crime scene, where armed officers arrested them. Rule lied, denying knowledge of Gaudin’s gun or plans, but texts revealing warnings to the victim exposed her involvement.
Extensive CCTV, witness testimony, and forensic evidence sealed their fate. Gaudin pleaded guilty; Rule was found guilty.
Justice on the Horizon
Both face sentencing at Kingston Crown Court on 19 January 2023.
Detective Inspector Iain Wallace, lead investigator, said:
“Our thoughts are with the young man whose life was shattered by this senseless act of violence, driven by Gaudin’s jealousy and insecurity. He had no idea what awaited him that day—his injuries mean a lifetime of assistance.
“I hope these convictions bring some comfort to him and his family. Gaudin and Rule will now pay for their ruthless, calculated attack. Violence like this will not be tolerated. The Met will relentlessly pursue offenders to deliver justice.”
