Man Arrested Over Loughton Murder and Kidnap
Steffan Gordon, 33, from Dehavilland Close, Northolt, was arrested on Saturday, 17 December. The very next day, he was charged with murder, kidnap, and possession of Class A drugs. Gordon appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 19 December, and was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 21 December.
Koray Alpergin Found Dead Near Oakwood Hill
Koray Alpergin, 43, was discovered dead near Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate in Loughton by Essex Police on the morning of 15 October. He was pronounced dead at the scene. After initial inquiries, the Met Police took over the investigation.
The Met’s Specialist Crime Command continues to assist Koray’s family as the probe deepens.
Several Charged Over Murder and Kidnap
Prior to Gordon’s arrest, four others were charged in connection with the case:
- Erdogan Ulcay, 55, of Oakeshott Avenue, Camden
- Ali Kavak, 25, of De Quincey Road, Tottenham
- A 17-year-old boy (name withheld due to age)
- Junior Kettle, 31, of Kingsdown Road, Islington
All four are due to appear at the Old Bailey on 6 January 2023.
Other Arrests and Developments
- Two men, aged 29 and 34, were also arrested on suspicion of murder but have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
- A 55-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charge.
