Predator Prowls Streets, Snatches Woman in Early Morning Horror
Horrific Attack in Bishop Auckland
Saman Osmanzadeh was lurking in his car when he spotted a young woman walking home in the early hours. The 31-year-old drove her to a house in Bishop Auckland and brutally raped her before dumping her back in Darlington in March this year.
Swift Arrest and Trial
The victim bravely reported the attack the same day. Police tracked down Osmanzadeh, from Durham Street, Bishop Auckland, just hours later. He denied the rape but was found guilty at Teesside Crown Court. He was jailed for 13 years, along with an extended four-year licence period.
Investigator’s Grim Warning
Sergeant Stuart Chaney, Durham Constabulary, said: “Osmanzadeh is a dangerous individual who targeted a vulnerable woman trying to get home after a night out.”
“He showed no remorse and disrupted court proceedings repeatedly. We worked tirelessly to bring him to justice.”
“I hope this sentence brings some closure to the victim so she can start rebuilding her life. No jail term can undo her suffering, but her courage in coming forward is truly commendable.”
