PC Oliver Banfield, who was suspended by West Midlands Police, has resigned following his assault conviction. Despite stepping down, Banfield is not off the hook yet.
Misconduct Hearing Still On
Warwickshire Police found Banfield guilty of assault after a thorough investigation. Deputy Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine confirmed the force has accepted his resignation but emphasized that Banfield will face an accelerated misconduct hearing soon.
“Today I have accepted the resignation of PC Oliver Banfield,” said DCC Jardine. “I want to stress that former PC Banfield will still face an accelerated misconduct hearing, chaired by the Chief Constable, in the near future.”
