Brutal Knife Attack in Mansfield: Rapist Robert Taylor Jailed
Robert Taylor threatened a woman at knifepoint before viciously assaulting her in Mansfield. The horrifying attack left the victim with fractured ribs, a severely bruised face, and a bleed on the brain.
Survivor’s Brave Escape Leads to Arrest
The courageous survivor managed to flee the scene and was rushed to hospital. Taylor, 49, from HMP nottingham/" title="Nottingham" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Nottingham, was arrested later the same day following police inquiries.
Taylor Pleads Guilty to Multiple Rapes and Grievous Bodily Harm
The convicted attacker admitted to six counts of rape and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. At Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday 29 March 2023, he was handed an extended sentence: 12 years in prison plus a four-year extended licence.
He was also added to the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and slapped with a lifelong sexual harm prevention order to tightly control his actions once released.

“This survivor was subjected to what can only be described as violent, sickening, and savage treatment by Taylor,” said Detective Inspector Jamie Moore of Nottinghamshire Police’s Public Protection. “I’d like to commend her bravery throughout the investigation and hope today’s result brings her some closure.”
“We want other victims to feel confident coming forward. Nottinghamshire Police treats rape and sexual assault extremely seriously. We will hold violent offenders to account and support victims every step of the way.”
