Police believe a woman and her friends were offered drugs before a shocking attack at Manchester’s Bloom club on Wednesday.

Suspect Arrested but Released on Bail

A man was arrested on suspicion of rape but has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

Bar Staff Let Attacker Walk Despite Victim’s Wishes

Superintendent Christopher Downey revealed at a Manchester City Council licensing meeting that the victim initially said she did not want police involved. Following this, the bar staff allowed the attacker to leave the premises.

It was only after the woman’s friend contacted police that an arrest was made.

Bloom Club Shut Temporarily Amid Investigation

The Bloom Street nightclub is now temporarily closed as the probe continues. The club said it is “working with police and providing all assistance possible.”
