Burglars Who Held Woman at Knifepoint Locked Up After Sheerness Crime Spree
Two heartless burglars who raided homes across Sheerness and threatened a resident at knifepoint have finally been jailed. Their crime spree left locals rattled – but justice has now been served.
Sheerness Hit by Serial Burglars
David Hansen and Ryan Kiely pleaded guilty at court after a series of break-ins across the town. Their spree began on 20 February 2025, when Hansen broke into a home on 1 Avenue, Sheerness, stealing jewellery, documents, car keys, and even making off with a van parked outside.
Only a week later, on 27 February, they struck again at a nearby property in 1 Close. No one was home, but they smashed a window, ransacked the place, and stole watches, cash, jewellery, and other valuables.
Violent Threat at Third Burglary
Their crimes escalated on their third break-in when they caught a resident inside. Hansen and Kiely threatened the occupant, grabbed designer handbags and a mobile phone, then fled the scene.
Jail Time at Last
Police arrested the pair on 24 April, charging them the next day. On 22 September, both were sentenced after admitting to multiple burglaries and carrying burglary tools.
- David Hansen got four years and nine months, also admitting theft and false imprisonment.
- Ryan Kiely was sentenced to three years and nine months behind bars.
Detective Constable Kati Goldsmith said: “Hansen and Kiely are aggressive offenders who show no regard for their victims. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own homes. I’m pleased these custodial sentences send a clear message that this brazen behaviour won’t be tolerated. We hope this brings some closure to those affected.”
