James Arbery, a drug addict drowning in debt, has been slammed with 32 months behind bars for a daylight knife-point robbery on the Isle of Wight.

On February 9th, Arbery, from Carisbrooke Road, donned a black stocking mask and stormed into Central Convenience on Upper St James’ Street, Newport. Wielding a knife, he threatened the cashier and grabbed £200 before fleeing the scene.

Arbery’s escape was short-lived. Police swiftly caught up with him, ending his brief run from justice.

Immediate Custodial Sentence for Armed Robbery

Despite calls for leniency, the court showed no mercy. Arbery pleaded guilty to robbery and threatening the staff, but was handed an immediate custodial sentence of 32 months—serving half behind bars.
