Dover Bonfire Blazes Out of Control – Firefighters Sound Alarm!

Kent Fire and Rescue Service raced to an out-of-control bonfire in Dover on Friday evening (9 May 2025), warning locals about rising fire dangers as temperatures climb.

Blazing Bonfire Sparks Rapid Response

At 6:53pm, crews were scrambled to Drop Redoubt Road after reports of an unattended bonfire getting wildly out of hand. Two fire engines arrived quickly and unleashed powerful high-pressure hose reel jets to douse the flames. The blaze was finally under control by 7:31pm.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Firefighters Issue Urgent Safety Warning

“Bonfires must always be closely supervised. In dry, warmer weather, flames can spread rapidly and pose significant danger to nearby property and greenery.”

Kent Fire and Rescue urged residents planning outdoor fires to follow these crucial safety tips:

  • Keep bonfires small and manageable
  • Build fires away from fences, sheds, trees, and buildings
  • Never leave bonfires unattended
  • Always have a hosepipe or bucket of water nearby
  • Call 999 immediately if your bonfire gets out of control

Spring Fire Risks on the Rise – Stay Safe!

The recent spike in bonfire-related emergencies comes as locals enjoy warmer spring weather. Firefighters are urging everyone to stick to safety rules to prevent needless callouts and protect lives and property.
