Isle of Sheppey Man Admits to Horrific Child Image Charges
Benjamin Street, 22, from Minster on Sea, has pleaded guilty to multiple shocking offences involving indecent images of children. He faces charges for making and possessing 171 Category A images – the most serious level – along with hundreds of other indecent photographs.
Police Crack Down After National Crime Agency Tip-Off
Street was arrested on 7 January after police raided his home on Petunia Avenue. Officers seized three electronic devices following information passed from the National Crime Agency. During questioning, Street admitted he sourced the images from Instagram.
Over 350 Disturbing Images Found on Devices
Prosecutor Chelsea Clarke revealed an analysis uncovered more than 350 indecent photos and videos on Street’s devices. He entered guilty pleas to all charges during a brief hearing at Medway Magistrates Court.
Magistrates Send Case to Crown Court for Sentencing
Ms Clarke stated the starting sentence for possession of Category A images is 12 months custody, exceeding the magistrates’ six-month sentencing limit. As a result, the case was referred to Maidstone Crown Court for sentencing. Street was released on unconditional bail and ordered to register under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
