Burglar Busted: Alan Aldous Locked Up
Alan Aldous, 35, a drifter with no fixed address, has been charged with two burglaries and was wanted on recall to prison. He faced Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 4 February and was immediately remanded in custody. His next hearing is at Swindon Crown Court on 6 March.
Jewellery Theft and School Break-In
Aldous is accused of raiding a Chippenham home on 30 January, making off with expensive jewellery. He’s also linked to a brazen break-in at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy just days later on 2 February.
Police Praise Multi-Unit Crackdown
County Chief Inspector Ben Huggins hailed the cross-team effort that led to Aldous’s arrest. “This was excellent work across neighbourhood teams, response units, and force operations to track Aldous down and connect him to the crimes,” he said.
“CID then gathered the evidence and secured charges through the Crown Prosecution Service. Burglaries are among the most invasive crimes. It’s a top priority for us to keep people feeling safe in their own homes.”
