Man Glassed in Brutal Night Attack in Newbury
Thames Valley Police are hunting witnesses after a terrifying late-night assault left a man bloodied and battered in Newbury.
Attack Rocks Newbury Town Centre
Just after 2.30am on Thursday, July 5th, a 54-year-old man was walking along Bartholomew Street near the Hogan Music shop when he was blindsided. A man sneaked up behind him and smashed a glass bottle into his head, knocking him unconscious.
The victim went down hard and the attacker calmly strolled off, leaving the man injured and in shock.
Victim Rushed to Hospital
Emergency crews treated the man at North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, where he needed stitches for his facial wounds. Thankfully, he has since been discharged but remains shaken by the vicious attack.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
PC Laura Harrhy, leading the investigation from Newbury police station, said:
“Anyone who saw this cowardly attack or has information is urged to come forward. Your help could be crucial.”

Suspect Arrested and Released Under Investigation
Police have arrested a 26-year-old local man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been released pending further inquiries.
