Chicken Heist Lands Man in Jail
A man has been handed a four-week jail sentence after stealing a bag packed with chicken and mince from a Co-Op in Welling.
Caught Red-Handed
John Piro, 48, was nabbed along with another suspected shoplifter after they were spotted leaving the store with stolen goods earlier this week. The Metropolitan Police in Welling acted fast to collar the pair.
Both were charged. Piro was remanded in custody, while his accomplice awaits a court date. The police confirmed Piro’s conviction and sentence in a Twitter update on June 8, stating:
“Two prolific shoplifters were arrested after they were seen leaving CO-OP with a bag full of chicken and mince. Both were charged with one remanded and the other awaiting a court date. Following on from yesterday’s post… John Piro, 48, was convicted at court and sentenced to 4 weeks imprisonment for numerous shopliftings at Co-op stores.”
