Man Jailed for 30 Years Over Horrific Child Sex Abuse in Gosport

A 52-year-old man has been locked up for three decades after abusing five children in Gosport between 1997 and 2001.

Brett Sitch Found Guilty of 12 Sex Offences

Brett Sitch faced 12 charges linked to horrific abuse uncovered by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Police’s dedicated Operation Amberstone team. His crimes included:

  • 10 counts of indecent assault on boys under 16
  • 2 counts of inciting boys under 14 to commit acts of gross indecency

The investigation began in January 2020 when one victim bravely came forward, revealing he was abused weekly for two years at a Gosport address. Further police work uncovered more survivors who recalled shocking ‘dares’ forcing them into abusive acts.

Sitch Denied Charges but the Jury Didn’t Buy It

Sitch, from Fareham, denied all allegations, but after a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court starting November 20, 2023, he was convicted on December 7. Sentenced on March 22, 2024, Sitch received 30 years behind bars.

Police Praise Victims’ Bravery

“What these children, now men, endured was appalling,” said DC Sam Couchman from Operation Amberstone.

“The victims’ bravery has been commendable. Their courage helped bring Sitch to justice.”

“Sitch used ‘dares’ to mask his abuse and normalise his disgusting behaviour. Thanks to the survivors finding their voice, he will no longer harm any child.”

“If you’re a survivor, speak out – you will be listened to and supported.”
