Attempted Rucksack Theft Shakes Southampton Park
Police are on the hunt after a 19-year-old narrowly escaped a robbery in Southampton’s Peartree Common. The victim was walking through the wooded path behind Bryanston Road when a thief grabbed his rucksack from behind.
Victim Fights Back, Escapes with Minor Injuries
The young man quickly turned and raised his arms, forcing the attacker to release the bag. He then bolted in the opposite direction, leaving his belongings untouched. The tussle, which took place between 1:30pm and 2pm on July 15, left the victim with a cut on his elbow.
Suspect Spotted in Dark Hooded Top and Baggy Jeans
The suspect is described as white, about 6ft 1in tall with an average build. He was seen wearing a black hoodie with the hood up and loose baggy black jeans.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“Were you walking through Peartree Common that afternoon? Did you see a man matching this description run past? We want to hear from you,” said police staff investigator Samira Hosseinmardi.
“Stay vigilant and always keep your belongings in front of you.”
