Man Jailed for 20 Years Over Brutal Sex Attacks in Cornwall
Clinton Ferreira, 38, has been locked up for two decades following a savage spree of sexual assaults against three women in St Ives, Cornwall.
Convicted of Rape and Attempted Strangulation
After a gripping seven-day trial at Truro Crown Court in October, Ferreira was found guilty of eight serious sexual offences, including rape and attempted strangulation. The attacks took place between August and October 2019.
Originally from Durban, South Africa, Ferreira has lived in Cornwall since 2011. He had denied all charges throughout the trial.
Victims’ Bravery Praised as Justice Delivered
Detective Inspector Steve Hambly praised the bravery of the three women who came forward.
“It’s their courage that means Ferreira can pose no further threat to the women he encounters for the foreseeable future,” said Hambly.
He also commended the investigative team: “Their hard work has helped achieve today’s result despite the convicted man refusing to accept any responsibility.”
CPS Highlights Severity of Crimes
Jill Macnamara, District Crown Prosecutor for CPS South West, described Ferreira’s actions as “appalling” and said the sentence reflects the serious nature of the crimes.
“The CPS and police are committed to delivering justice to the victims of rape and sexual offences,” she stated.
Ferreira was sentenced on Friday, 27 November, bringing relief to a shaken community and sending a strong message that violent sex offenders will face justice.
