The kingpin behind one of the UK’s largest amphetamine labs has been slammed with an 18-year jail sentence. The crime hub, near Redditch, pumped out a staggering 400 kilos of amphetamine every month—worth up to £10 million on the streets.

EncroChat Helped Run Massive Drug Operation

National Crime Agency (NCA) detectives cracked the case thanks to the encrypted messaging platform EncroChat. The platform was used to coordinate the massive lab and distribute £2 million worth of drugs wholesale.

‘The Geek’ Built the Secret Lab

Andrew Gurney, 52, aka ‘The Geek’ from Quinton, Birmingham, used his electrical and plumbing skills to convert a double garage into a high-tech drug factory. His right-hand man, Keith Davis, 62, was sent for chemistry training to keep the operation running smoothly.

Specialist Crews Uncover Toxic Lab

When authorities finally raided the outbuilding, noxious fumes poured out, confirming the dangerous scale of the operation. Both Gurney and Davis faced justice after a court ruling that increased their original sentences to a hefty 10 years each.

Conspirator Walked Straight to Jail

Meanwhile, another member, Walker, pled guilty to conspiracy to produce class B drugs last September and was locked up for six years in December.
