17-Year-Old Charged in Gruesome Dismemberment Murder in West London
A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the brutal murder of a vulnerable man found dismembered in his home after drug dealers reportedly took over the property.
Man Found Dismembered in Barnes Home
William Agar, 53, was discovered with his head and torso wrapped in sheets at a Barnes, West London address on January 3. The rest of his body—both arms and legs—have never been recovered. A post-mortem at Kingston mortuary on January 5 revealed he died from an eight-centimetre stab wound to the chest that pierced his heart.
Horrific Details of the Attack Revealed
Prosecutor Peter Ratliffe said: “The body itself was wrapped up in a sheet noted twice. Both of his arms and both of his legs had been removed. They have never been recovered. The torso and head remained. The fatal injury was an eight cm deep stab wound to the chest which penetrated the heart.”
He added there were over 20 stab wounds across the body and severe damage to the scalp, apparently from a knife tip. The dismemberment required significant force and sharp tools, likely not a saw but something similar.
‘Cuckooing’ Linked to Murder Scene
Police believe the property had been overtaken by drug dealers last summer in a practice known as cuckooing—exploiting vulnerable people by squatting in their homes.
The 17-year-old suspect, who cannot be named due to his age, appeared via video link at the Old Bailey wearing a grey tracksuit and supported by his parents. He was remanded in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing scheduled for March 25.
