Christmas Chaos Looms as Border Force and Civil Servants Set to Strike

Strike Action Hits Major UK Airports Over Christmas

Border Force staff belonging to the PCS union are set to strike over Christmas at Heathrow, Gatwick, and other key airports. Thousands of other civil servants, including driving test examiners, will also join the industrial action.

Dates and Locations of the Strikes

The walkouts are scheduled from December 23rd to 26th and again from December 28th to 31st. Airports affected include Birmingham, Cardiff, Gatwick, Glasgow, Heathrow, Manchester, as well as the Port of Newhaven.

Union Boss Warns Government to Act or Face Escalation

PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka issued a stark warning, saying the strikes will “escalate” unless the government is ready “to put money on the table now”.

Passengers are braced for disruption during one of the busiest travel periods of the year as unions ramp up pressure for better pay and conditions.
