Speedy Arrest After Power Tools Swipe in Faversham
A man has been busted just 90 minutes after nicking power tools from a van in Faversham – and the stolen gear is already back with its rightful owner.
Quick-Thinking Cops Nab Suspect
The theft went down on Wednesday, 29 January 2025, around 4pm. A stash of power tools was grabbed from the back of a van parked on Arden Road. Kent Police’s Rural Task Force joined forces with local officers and soon tracked a suspicious bloke in Crescent Road.
They arrested 41-year-old Lee Kennelly from Chatham, who is now facing two counts of theft and assault after allegedly attacking an officer during the arrest. The police found a toolbox and several power tools hidden in a nearby wheelie bin.
Magistrates’ Court and Ongoing Appeal
Kennelly was remanded in custody and appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 31 January.
The returned tools have been confirmed as the victim’s, but some items are still missing. Police are urging anyone in Faversham who’s been offered cheap power tools to come forward.
