Teen Held for Two Knife-Point Robberies in Gillingham

An 18-year-old man has been charged after two brazen knife-point robberies rocked Gillingham, Kent. The crimes, which targeted teenage boys, unfolded on Brompton Road over a tense week in February.

Victims Threatened and Robbed at Knifepoint

The first attack happened on Monday, 10 February 2025. A teenage boy walking along Brompton Road was confronted by a man waving a knife. The thug stole the boy’s jacket, AirPods, and some cash.

Just six days later, on Sunday, 16 February, another teen reported a near-identical attack on the same street. This time the suspect snatched the victim’s bag while brandishing a blade.

Fast Police Action Leads to Arrest

Kent Police moved swiftly, launching an intensive investigation to catch the culprit. Officers arrested 18-year-old Cameron Joseph from Balmoral Road, Gillingham, at a Gravesend address on Thursday, 20 February.

Joseph has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of carrying a bladed article in public.

Magistrates Court Bail Denied, Trial Set

The accused appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court, where he was remanded in custody. His next court date is 21 March at Maidstone Crown Court.

Kent Police hailed their “swift investigative work” for the arrest. A spokesperson said: “Thanks to swift investigative work, we were able to arrest the suspect and ensure he faces charges in connection with these troubling incidents.”
