Teen Jailed for Stabbing Kacey Clarke to Death on Christmas Eve
A 17-year-old boy has been locked up for six-and-a-half years after fatally stabbing 22-year-old Kacey Clarke on Christmas Eve in Bermondsey. The teen, who was just 16 at the time, was found guilty of manslaughter at the Old Bailey on July 26. He was sentenced on November 1 at the same court.
Christmas Tragedy in Bermondsey
The horrific attack happened on December 24, 2023. Police rushed to a flat on Jamaica Road at 10:03pm following reports of a stabbing. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance tried to save Kacey, but she died at the scene from a single stab wound to the chest, confirmed by post-mortem.
Self-Defence Claim Falls Flat
The teen was arrested near the scene and was known to Kacey. He told officers he acted in self-defence after Kacey allegedly threatened him with a knife. But a meticulous Metropolitan Police investigation shattered his story. A blood-stained knife was found three weeks later on Rail Sidings Road. Forensic tests proved the knife had Kacey’s blood on it.
Detective Inspector Adam Clifton said, “Through a thorough investigation, we disproved many of the defendant’s claims. The jury rightly rejected his self-defence story. I’m pleased justice has been served for Kacey.”
He added, “Reducing violence against women and girls is a top priority for the Met. Anyone suffering abuse should seek help immediately.”
