Essex Hit-and-Run Shocker: Two Charged After Lakeside Horror

Essex Police have named and charged two suspects over a brutal hit-and-run at Lakeside Shopping Centre’s car park on the night of Friday, January 5, 2024. The victim, a man in his twenties, was struck near Coco Asia just before midnight.

Man Seriously Hurt in Callous Car Crash

The victim had been enjoying a night out with a friend at Puttshack, Lakeside. As they crossed the car park, a silver Vauxhall Corsa slammed into him. The driver then fled the scene, leaving the injured man bleeding and unconscious.

He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital where he remains in treatment. Thankfully, his friend was unharmed in the nasty smash.

Two Arrested and Charged After Essex Police Probe

On Sunday, January 7, Essex cops arrested an 18-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, both from Hampton Crescent, Gravesend, Kent. They face grim charges:

  • 1 Stewart, 23, charged with Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) with intent and arson with intent to endanger life
  • Sophie Kular, 18, charged with Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) with intent

Both are due in Southend Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

Essex Police continue the hunt for any witnesses or dashcam footage. Anyone with information is urged to get in touch via the Essex Police website or the online 1 Chat service, Monday to Friday from 10 am to 9 pm (excluding public holidays).
