Two Thugs Nabbed and Jailed for Brutal City Centre Robberies
Shocking Assaults on City Streets
Michal Czerniawski and Michal Kardas, both homeless, have been slammed with over four years behind bars each for a pair of violent robberies in Greater Manchester.
On November 10, 2021, the duo targeted a man in his 50s on Dale Street in the City Centre. They demanded his bag, then mercilessly punched him in the face multiple times. A passerby stepped in to help as the pair scrambled to escape.
Terrifying Attack by the Canal
The same night, around 8pm, the villains struck again in Ancoats. They cornered a man in his 30s walking by the canal. Kardas locked the man in a headlock while Czerniawski hoisted him by his legs, terrifying him with threats of being thrown into the water.
They punched and strangled the victim until he passed out. They then forced him to hand over his phone PIN before stealing the device.
Caught Red-Handed After Victim Spots Pair
Police swooped after the first victim spotted Czerniawski and Kardas back in the city centre the following Sunday and raised the alarm. Officers from GMP’s Operation Valiant team arrested the pair, bringing the violent spree to a halt.
“These incidents were terrifying for the victims who were simply going about their day,” said PC Benjamin John of GMP’s Operation Valiant. “No one should be afraid to walk around in public. I’m relieved these men are now facing prison for their heinous actions.”
Operation Valiant: Fighting Personal Robbery
The investigation was led by GMP’s Operation Valiant, the specialised unit cracking down on personal robberies across Greater Manchester since 2018. Their work has delivered some smashing results in keeping streets safer.
