Two Basingstoke Teens Locked Up for Violent Sprees

Two local teenagers have been sent to a Young Offenders’ Institution after causing chaos in Basingstoke. Their crimes include violent public disorder and assaulting a police officer.

Teen Trouble at Buckskin Centre

A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old boy from Basingstoke were sentenced on Friday at Basingstoke Youth Court. Both got six-month Detention and Training Orders. They’ll serve three months inside before spending three months on licence in the community.

The pair pled guilty to offences under Section 4 of the Public Order Act 1986 and affray. The 16-year-old also admitted to assaulting a police officer during a brawl outside a take-away at the Buckskin Centre on May 25. Police were called to a large disturbance at around 10pm, resulting in six arrests for affray.

More Teens in the Dock

  • Two other boys, aged 15 and 16, had earlier pled guilty to similar charges and received six-month contract orders with the Hampshire Youth Offender Panel.
  • The 16-year-old was fined £85 in court costs; both paid a £22 victim surcharge.
  • Two more youngsters, a 17-year-old and 19-year-old Joseph Naisbitt of Hook, face court for affray and other offences, with trials set for July 23.

“Sickening” Attack at Longridge Mill

The same two boys were also convicted for a brutal assault on June 25 at Longridge Mill in Sherfield-on-Loddon. Victim: a 17-year-old boy whose head was kicked “like a football,” leaving cuts and bruises but no serious injuries.

Both teens pleaded guilty to affray and must pay £50 each in compensation to the victim.

The judge condemned the violence as “sickening,” highlighting the rising issue of youth violence in the area.
