Blaze Hits Portsmouth Student Block – Firefighters Race to Rescue
Fire crews rushed to tackle a blaze in a highrise student block in Portsmouth this afternoon.
Firefighters Mobilise Fast
Shortly after 4pm on Monday, squads from Southsea, Havant, and Portchester were scrambled to Greatham Street. The fire broke out inside the student accommodation, causing smoke to billow through the building.
Swift Action Saves the Day
Brave firefighters entered the block in breathing apparatus and used two hose reels plus a jet to battle the flames. Once the fire was out, they deployed positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke.
“It was not a serious fire and was dealt with pretty quickly,” a fire service spokeswoman said.
Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.
