Firefighters Attacked While Battling Blaze in Thornton Heath

Two London Fire Brigade heroes faced a shocking assault after rushing to a fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Just after midnight, four fire crews and an aerial ladder platform were scrambled to Kensington Avenue, Thornton Heath, following reports of a fire.

Punches Fly as Firefighters Rescue Residents

Smoke billowed from the roof of a multi-residential property when crews arrived in full breathing kit. As they evacuated residents to safety, two firefighters were suddenly set upon by attackers. One suffered a jaw injury and needed immediate paramedic treatment. The second was also hurt and rushed to Croydon Hospital.

Police and Fire Brigade Launch Probes

The London Fire Brigade is investigating the fire’s cause, while the Met Police probe the violent attack. Both firefighters are believed to be based at Norbury station. Authorities have yet to release official statements.
