Brutal Home Invasion: Three Men Jailed for Knife Robbery and Savage Beating

Knife-Wielding Thugs Terrorise Family in Swanscombe

On the evening of November 2, 2023, a peaceful family in Swanscombe endured a nightmare raid. Ashley Henry, 29, Morgan Tinpeloo, 26, and Marvrick Elba, 29, stormed their home armed with knives, unleashing violence and fear. Elba pinned the wife and children in the front room, snatching their phones to block calls for help. Meanwhile, Henry and Tinpeloo dragged the husband upstairs, threatening harm to his children if he didn’t hand over cash.

Brutal Attack Leaves Husband Fighting for Life

The horror escalated when the husband was thrown down the stairs. Henry savagely bludgeoned him with a 10kg dumbbell, causing multiple skull fractures and two brain bleeds. The injured man was rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries. The family’s ordeal unfolded in terrifying detail.

Police Nail Crooks with CCTV and DNA Evidence

Detectives launched a swift investigation, using CCTV to track the suspects sprinting to a white Vauxhall Vivaro van. Forensic experts matched Henry’s DNA to the dumbbell used in the attack. Footage from a Gravesend pub showed Henry and Tinpeloo in clothes identical to those worn during the raid. The trio were arrested on November 9 and charged with three counts of robbery. Henry also admitted to grievous bodily harm with intent.

Lengthy Jail Terms for Ruthless Criminals

  • Ashley Henry from Sydenham was sentenced to 20 years – 17 behind bars plus 3 on licence.
  • Morgan Tinpeloo of Longfield got 14 years and nine months.
  • Marvrick Elba from Chatham received 11 years and nine months.

Detective Constable Ben Slocombe said: “These cowardly men put an innocent family through an appalling ordeal. The violence could have been fatal. Their lengthy sentences reflect the seriousness of their offending.”

The family’s bravery and cooperation with police played a key role in bringing the attackers to justice, offering a semblance of closure after a horrific night.
